Animation: Petit Lu                                                                                                                                                                                         In order of Hoaxland

Petit Lu: Petit Lu's site needed a few holiday updates. My assignment was to animate a few walkcycles and get them up to theme with a few rigged props. The animation and rigging of the props was done in Maya after which I went on to shading in Lightwave.

VFX: Idea

Idea: This little short was created on a very short time-span using a lamp that has been modelled, rigged and animated in 3dsmax. The rendering of the lamp was achieved by using mental ray's Lume and glare shaders. The tricky part was having the lamp shine in the live-action scene. This was achieved by having a colleague acting out the still to be animated path of the lamp with a dim-light. After about 12 takes we got it right and then it was just a matter of animating the lamp over the filmed scene. The animation is rather dodgy but still I am rather happy how it turned out. Compositing was done in Eyeon Fusion.

VFX: Desintegration

Desintegration: Returning myself too ashes, be it prematurely, was a good learning experience. The shot was filmed in front of a green screen after which the camera-movement was tracked using PF-track. A 3D-model with my proportions then was animated following the movements of myself and placed over the live-action footage in 3dsmax. A stripe of white was then animated over this model allowing for a source too spawn a few particle systems out. The 3D-model was then rendered using a gradient to use as a mask for fusion. Different diffuse rendering passes then were used to create the lava-effect which eats away my body.
